CCCC Missions & Volunteer Opportunities

Join the CCCC Garden Club on Friday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m. Come as you are, with our without gardening tools for fellowship and exercise as we plant, prune, weed, hula hoe, chat and eat muffins. Any Friday that fits your schedule will work fine!

Bring old cell phones for the Marjaree Mason Center to help women who are victims of domestic violence make 911 calls if and when necessary. Bring your usable, recyclable cell phones to church on Sundays. There will be a box in the narthex to collect them.

You can buy Fair Trade Coffee, whole bean or ground for $7 regular or decaf after church or from the church office. Case orders can be placed with Sharon Powers.

Equal Exchange Fair Trade Chocolate is available at College Church. We have three kinds of chocolate bars for sale: Organic Milk Chocolate, Organic Dark Chocolate and Organic Very Dark Chocolate. The cost is $2.50 per bar. This chocolate not only tastes yummy, but also is part of the effort to provide farmers a fair price for chocolate grown in farms free of chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers, leading to a cleaner, healthier ecosystem for the farmers, their communities and local wildlife.

The Food Pantry is an exciting part of our church outreach. You can make a contribution each Sunday in the envelope provided. At last calculation, each $1.00 actually buys $16.00 of food. Or bring food to church on Sunday. Each donor will be given a sticky for his "Badge of Honor."

Lay Care is now offering rides to those who wish to get to church but are in need of transportation. Call Bobbie Vivian or the church office if you need assistance getting to church.

Recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans the first Sunday of the month. And recycle your ink cartridges! The young adults are collecting empty ink cartridges for cash to help with trips, VBS and other necessities! Please deposit your cartridges in the box in the Narthex and we will take care of the rest. If you are interested in purchasing new cartridges at a low price please contact Bonita Earl. Support our youth!

Help Wanted: Bread bakers for Communion Sundays (either old fashioned kneaders or bread machine operators qualify!) Call Laurie Labbitt Perry, 225-1818.

The Sleeping Bag Project gives sleeping bags and blankets to the homeless and to migrant workers, many of whom sleep in unheated buildings. If you would like to donate a bag or blanket please contact Jean Chipp of Wesley Methodist at 226-1356. Drop off sites are Wesley Methodist at 1343 E. Barstow, or at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 4144 N. Millbrook (M-F 10a--2p).

Looking for STAR Tutors to help with the STAR Reading Program. We need tutors for Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 2:10-3:30 pm.  If interested please call the church office.

We have computers now dedicated to the Robinson students. The computers will assist us to help teach reading to second and third graders in need of special assistance. We need strong support from our congregation to continue the development of our tutoring program.

Volunteers needed to help after worship service on Sundays.  Money counters needed for the Sunday offering deposit.  All we ask is for 1 hour a month on a Sunday after worship to help count the offering and deposit into the bank.  If you have some time and would like to help, contact Susan Liberty directly or through the church office.
