ANNUAL MEETING
Sunday, January 27,
2008 at 11:30 a.m.
At the Annual Meeting we will enjoy
a great lunch while looking back at 2007 and ahead to
2008. In business this year, we'll elect officers and
vote on the budget for 2008. We'll also hear from the
By-Laws committee established last year and vote on
their proposed changes. Among those changes are a number
that align the bylaws with our current practice, and
that redefine the role of the Church Council, reduce the
membership of most committees, and spell out more open
procedures for terminating a pastor. After the
presentation of these changes there will be an an
opportunity to discuss them before the vote.
As a cautionary note the Trustees
last week issued the following statement: "The Board of
Trustees is currently putting together the 2008 budget
for congregational approval at the Annual Meeting. At
this point, projected income is $18,000 less than last
year, and $60,000 less than projected expenses. Trustees
requests everyone to prayerfully consider increasing
their Estimates of Giving for 2008. If you have not yet
turned in your Estimate of Giving, doing so now would
greatly assist us in planning. Please notify Georgia
Sisson in the church office if you can help."
For the
potluck luncheon to be held in Hayden Hall before the
meeting, each family attending is asked to bring a dish
that will serve ten people. The following is a
breakdown of what type of food is being asked for from
each alphabetical group:
salad entree
